Thanks to the hard work of our Orkney team, ReFLEX and its partners are ready to help you reduce your carbon footprint and rethink how you use energy in your home or business.

As COVID-19 restrictions continue and change, ReFLEX Orkney takes its responsibility to protect the health and welfare of its customers, staff and the wider Orkney community seriously. Please rest assured that we are complying with the most up-to-date guidance issued by the Scottish Government. Our customer team are taking enquiries by phone and online to safely discuss your integrative options for heating, transport and electricity. We are also doing test drives under Covid-19 safety guidelines.

You can find guidance specific to each of our services below. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns about our coronavirus policies. Together we will continue to navigate these challenging times and keep Orkney a safe place to live.

Service-specific help and advice

  • Electric vehicles, test driving and public charging points

Whether you’re interested in leasing or buying an electric car or having a charger installed, we’re here to help.

We offer a Covid-19 safe environment for test driving electric vehicles. The person doing the test drive will wear a mask and you will need to do the same. We will have hand sanitiser available and will clean the vehicles between each test drive.

If you already have an EV, proper hand washing and/or use of an alcohol-based hand sanitiser is recommended when using public charging points.

  • Local car club

The car club offers easy and flexible access to electric vehicles. Once you're a Co-wheels member, securing a pay-as-you-go hire car is completely self-service, from booking online or via mobile app to using your Co-wheels smart card to unlock and drive, to returning the vehicle to its designated location.

Due to the nature of car share, extra precautions should be taken when using a vehicle:

    • Do not book a car if you are currently in quarantine for COVID-19, if you display any symptoms of coronavirus, or if someone you’ve been in contact with is quarantining or has tested positive.

    • Ensure your journey is in line with current Scottish Government regulations.

    • Co-wheels vehicles are now being cleaned with a revolutionary disinfectant that keeps on killing germs on contact for up to 30 days. It kills not just coronaviruses like the one which causes COVID-19 but other viruses, bacteria and fungi. Find out more here.

    • Please continue to take sensible precautions in terms of hand washing or using antiseptic gel, and only share your vehicle with someone you are permitted to be with.

  • Electric vehicle charger installation

If you’re considering getting a charger installed through ReFLEX Orkney this will involve visits to your home or business, first for a survey and then for the installation. These visits will be done by our local and OZEV accredited installer. Home and business visits will follow strict social distancing rules, and our experts will be equipped with the proper PPE at all times.
