How did you become interested in leasing an electric vehicle?
I was investigating replacing the car I had with an EV just before Covid-19 came along, but everything was put on hold due to Covid. When I came back to looking at getting an EV, I saw ReFLEX offering discounts and also was thinking leasing would be better than buying, initially at least. Not knowing how EVs value would stand up if buying, I concluded leasing would probably be no more expensive and I would not have any problem getting rid of it in future.
Was it an obvious decision to have a charger installed once you knew you were getting an EV?
Yes. Christina at ReFLEX was very helpful and sent all the relevant forms and instructions to apply. Around 26th April, 2021 we started the charger application. Christina arranged with R S Merriman Ltd, ReFLEX Orkney’s installation partner, for a survey and a quote was issued, which I accepted.
Results
Our charger was installed on mid-July, 2021 and our EV arrived a couple weeks later.
I applied for a ChargePlace Scotland Chargecard, which I had in advance of EV arrival, but I do not anticipate using public chargers normally. My home charger charges at 7kw/h and my EV has a 50 kw/h battery. I have been charging when the battery gets to about 40% and it normally is 100% again in four hours.
I find the charging system very straight forward and have no problems. I have the myenergi app, but have no need to schedule charging, as I usually recharge in the afternoon and have it unplugged by mid-evening.
What they say...
“I am thoroughly enjoying the EV experience and with a home charger, it is easy and economical. A straight forward setup through ReFLEX, even with Covid delays.”
