ReFLEX is working with Motability Scheme to give Orcadian customers who qualify for their scheme a new and easier way to test drive and order their next car in Orkney.
If you’re a qualifying Motability Scheme customer, you’ll benefit from an all-inclusive Motability Scheme package, plus additional local support from ReFLEX throughout your lease.
Test drive an EV in Stromness
We’ve partnered with Motability Scheme to help you decide whether an EV is the right option for you. When it's time to renew your lease, the Motability Scheme will contact Orkney-based customers to offer an EV test drive in Stromness. Our team at ReFLEX will offer locally-based customer service, and can help you decide whether an EV suits your needs.
Order your next car remotely
Once you've chosen your next car, we'll help customers with a Motability Scheme online account start the renewal remotely. If you do not already have a Motability Scheme online account, we can help you set one up. The Motability Scheme team will link you with a participating dealer in Thurso, Inverness or Aberdeen to complete the order remotely, without needing to leave the islands. That means you, or your designated driver, only need to travel south once, when it's time to pick up your new car from your dealer.
1. Book a test drive
If you’re already a Motability Scheme customer they will contact you before your renewal date and offer an EV test drive with ReFLEX.
2. Test drive an EV and charger locally
Choose which of the ReFLEX demo EVs you would like to test drive. During the test drive we will answer your questions about switching to an EV and we’ll stop at a public charger so that you can experience charging the vehicle.
3. Order your next car
Once you’ve chosen your next car, you can start your application using your Motability Scheme online account. Our team will be on hand to help you set up the account if you do not already have one. A member of the Motability Scheme team will call you to support you with completing your application remotely.
Remote orders from Orkney can be completed with one of the participating dealers in Thurso, Inverness or Aberdeen.
You can remote order petrol, diesel and hybrid cars as well as EVs.
4. Charger assessment and installation
Once your application has been approved, the Motability Scheme will allocate you to one of their home chargepoint providers. They’ll contact you and arrange a home survey to confirm they can install a chargepoint for you. Typically, the home chargepoint is installed before your EV is ready to be collected, however this is not always possible and depends on installer availability, landlord approvals and potentially a planning permission request.
5. Collecting your new car
You’ll only need to travel to mainland Scotland when your next car is ready to be collected. Your dealer will call you to arrange a time.
6. Ongoing local support
In addition to the support you will receive from Motability Scheme, if you choose to lease an EV, ReFLEX Orkney will provide local support to you in Orkney throughout your lease. This includes helping you get familiar with your new EV, supporting your first home and public charge, and providing an EV Support Package that includes:
Use a qualifying mobility allowance to lease a brand-new vehicle through the Scheme. Choose from some of the latest makes and models of cars and electric vehicles (EVs) to help give you the freedom to move your way. Set off with peace of mind and the confidence to make every journey possible.
